A warm welcome to s1dalmellington

Welcome to s1dalmellington.com - your place to talk about the things in Dalmellington that interest you.

This is a new kind of community news site. Traditionally, journalists decide what the news is and how to tell it to you - on this site, you decide what the stories are, and tell them the way you want to.

In fact, you get the best of both worlds, because s1 is part of Herald & Times Group so there's a team of professional journalists on hand to help out and keep things clear. But most of the time they won't interfere - s1dalmellington.com is for the people of Dalmellington, by the people of Dalmellington.

It's quick and easy to post things yourself.

Talk about what's happening round here and what interests us all in News. Sound off about what you like and don't like about Dalmellington in Soapbox. Reminisce about Dalmellington's old days from dim and distant history to just last year in Memories. And illustrate it all with pictures or even video.

If you're organising an event such as a concert, show or public meeting, you can post it to the What's On Section. If you want to congratulate someone on their engagement, wish Happy Birthday or sell your lawnmower, post a free notice on the Noticeboard. If you run a local group or society you can set up your own page in Groups to publicise it and pass on information to members and to the public.

You can even sign up for email alerts to keep you posted on what's changing in Dalmellington.

s1dalmellington.com is totally free for private use. Local businesses can take advantage of prominent, low-cost advertising they can maintain themselves by using our Adbuilder feature.

Soon there will be more great free features which will allow you to share items you like and invite friends into the community.

The best way to see what s1dalmellington.com can do for you is to take a look at some of our other successful community sites. We want Dalmellington to get as much from s1dalmellington.com as these communities have from their sites.

Welcome to Dalmellington > a Gateway to Ayrshire.

That's what should be on the Welcome sign on the A713 Ayrshire boundary to show that Dalmellington is more than just a Gateway to Ayrshire; it has an interesting history.
